OK I know I am a new to the site but I wanted to give you guys some info and my family needs some help.
My father and uncle are Brian and Paul Austin. They raced for many years my uncle wrenched for a couple pros as well. My dad ran national number 70 at one point. We are from Rochester, N.Y. My uncle and dad are both active riders. Back in '03 my dad won the local 125, 250 and vet A(Western New York Motocross Associaton District 4) classes for the entire season. He was also named rider and Sportsman of the year as well. He also went to Loretta Lynn's that yeah and got a 2nd in the +40 class. My father has always given to everyone he could. He is your typicle 50+ hour a week worker.
We started having problems with the town we live in 9 years ago over our motocross practice track. Well we had a Town Supervisor who took it personally that my dad was fighting for our right to ride. He made and created laws that were just outrageous. There is a law in our town that you cant hold motocross schools in our town. This cause my dad held a DBA over 15 years ago for them. What this supervisor did was say that we can only ride two at a time on 60 acres next to the NYS Thruway. Our closest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile away and we are surrounded by woods all the way around. e best part we have a golf course behind us that is a multi millin dollar facility that goes to court on our behalf. My father has spent over $30,000 to ride on our property.
Here is our current problem. We have one neighbor that wont let up. We are on town supervisor #3. This town supervisor said that he has to follow laws that were passed by the 1st supervisor. Which means we need a special use permit. The permit is only $70. The law also states that we need our land surveyed and its going to cost $7,500 for that. My parents have been through the ringer. They are not wealthy. They have to work quite a bit around tax time and mortgage time. We do have a bulldozer and my dad has a pretty technile SX track and motocross track. We stick to all the rules even two at a time. Well this new little road block is making so my dad is debating on dozing the whole thing flat cause he cant afford $7,500 for the survey. We probably have over 100k in track building on our land. Good thing he bought a dozer when we 1st moved. I guess we are looking for a motocross friendly that is New York State. We are also open to any other suggestions, My dad is a great guy.
Just shitty that people are trying to stop a family from doing something constructive. We have held benefits in the past that has helped with a FMX show by some of my friends.
