I write this post mainly to thank Mike and his employees for the best vacation my family has ever had. Thank you all!
Durhamtown,Georgia is a very beautiful place. The red clay, hills and tall pine trees are eye candy. We found that the people who live in Georgia are very hospitalable and lucky. We didnt want to go home.
The people at the Pro Shop,Registration Counter,Cafeteria,Garage,Electricians,Grounds were friendly. They placed orders and sold us many parts, treated us very well at registration(always) - rewired my hotwater tank(now it works perfect) - fed our hogs we call "children" seems like unbelievable amounts of breakfast/lunch/dinner. The kids see "all you can eat steak" and they go a little crazy.
We had two loud dogs - the howling type. And I must say thank you guys for your understanding.
And also I must tell anyone else that reads this post
-- That you will have a great time at Durhamtown if you like to ride !
We drove 1000 miles to Georgia. Full RV hookup. Feburary 9 to the 19, 2008 we rode everyday in 50 - 70 degree weather(10degree back home), had choice to ride 7 completely different motocross/supercross tracks(MX2 and MX6 my favs) - ranging from beginner type with safe jump/landings to supercross non-forgiving sharp, steep long jumps on advanced tracks - also Trails - miles and miles ( say over 100 miles) - smooth trails, rough trails, tree trails, advanced racing trails, many many trails, and a gourge called Kennys Hills - very awesome - very dangerous -- shear jumps - straight up. Its very easy to get hurt here --- dont ride over your head. Theres a snake path running up through it and your bike gets all horzontal and stuff. Awesome.
We were lucky - some sick freestylers showed up one day and were doing a photo shoot with flames and backflipps etc... what a practice they had. They were on the freestyle track with metal ramps at first -sick I tell ya- then they went to Kennys Hill and OMG crazy - but no one got hurt - can you believe it?
The place is set up like a motocross amusement park - You ride down these trails to get to your next attraction - like a motocross track or Trail loop(many trails) or Kenny Hills , Monster Mountain etc..
You can get lost. They have remote call boxes. They work - I used one to help a stranded father/daughter atv breakdown about 10 miles out. Durhamtown has the trails marked pretty well but you must realize your way out there sometimes. Its EPIC. Its very big.
Its a family resort - family orientated. Thats whats so cool - riding down the trails with your family -then hitting a MX track and letting er rip.
Head back for a lite lunch and short break - then back out.
The Georgia clay is a pure dream to ride on. Not loamy. Smooth. Fast! We were in top gear doing jumps like we never did up in the north - the take off and the landings are perfect. The speed -- addicting. It was nothing but pure enjoyment being able to ride and fly over the jumps all day everyday. Six of us -including my wife - rode for 10 days with no injuries - amazing. You guys do a great job.
Durhamtown IS Motocross Heaven.
We made so many new friends - and saw some old ones also.
If you havent met Bob(local member) and Rhonda and the boys then you just havent stayed long enough. They are - by far - the nicest people you will ever meet! And everybody knows them. Thanks Bob.
We hope to see you all very soon!
