Mr. Mike,
You told us that any suggestions were welcomed by you and the DP staff. Well we raced in 2006 race series. The awards/trophy booth was down in the bottom by the youth track. It seemed as if everyone had more room. With the booth up top I always worry about traffic both vehicles and riders. We have enjoyed this series and look forward to the last race on Sunday! I agree with track prep comment, all tracks need to be prepped before the race. The going from loam to hard pack doesn't bother me to much, it would be
nice if the track was more consistant, but few tracks are. I have not raced at DP yet, so I cannot comment on how the track looks on race day. I did ride the
supercross track Sat. The only real complaint I have is, there were some large pot holes that developed in front of several of the jumps. This causes a safety
issue, especially when you are jumping the triple. Now I don't know if the holes were fixed for race day, but for practice they were there. I will say it
is a fun track and I look forward to racing there. Which brings up a question, will there be a summer series?

Hey guys thanks for the comments
all are good points we do have plans for a fall series we did prep the track for the races on sunday morning also is the reason for more dusts hot temperatures and sun evaporate water rapidly in minutes we may have to cancel the big trak races it is not practical to till all straight aways if it rains it will all turn into deep mud hard to run a race series and have day riders every day and make both happy we make money with day riders and none on the race day events we will dicide before the fall series riders come from far far away and the track must be rideable all days not just some days which is the worst of the 2 evils thanks mike |

Mike, We had a blast this spring series and my son is already looking forward to the fall series ..Please don't change nothing for the quad riders ...we
are so THANKFUL for a place to watch our little ones grow in the sport and hopefully move on to bigger events when they are a bit older . Thanks again for all
you do to make DP appealing to so many different types of riders and off-roaders ..The trails were great yesterday also even with the heat and dust makes it
more fun to play in the swimming holes LOL, lots of fun! Joey's mom #88 quad

Thanks to Mike and the others who made comments on this topic. I also appreciate DP for having a forum where comments and suggestions can be discussed
openly by all that visit DP. Before I get off of this topic I would like to say a couple of things.

Mxdad, I hope you did not take offense to my comment, I just wanted to reassure Mike that we as offroad riders and racers appreciate his efforts because like
you said we don't have many places to ride

I think I have to side with dp on this one!The sx track was never ment to be a "racing" track, and with the turn out it got over the last 4 races I
dont see preping and spending hour unpon hour watering and tilling. It would take a lot of $$$$ to get this track up to what racers are use to,and with the 20
guys who ran these races I just dont see it!I know I was complaining after the 2nd race about the track but my problem was the lack of water. This time I saw dp
trying to wet it down before the race and even during the race they did the start! Most of you guys race all the time like we do and you know what to expect at
DP,Mike was pushing to get things done and as hot as it was i'm glad he did!We will just take dp for what it is...a multi use facility! Is it a great mx
park nope,is it a great rideing park you bet!!As always we were happy with the kids track, yes just the turns were tilled but it was still a lot of fun! When I
looked around and saw all the kids I didnt see one not having a good time, after all dp is really ment to be fun!

I should correct myself Day riders....
the only profit center of DP is the cabin rentals and bike rentals and Proshop ( and that is discounted deeply) for the amount of revenue generated by a race it is all consumed in the week before with registration paper preparations hours and $$$$ of diesel and machinery to prep the tracks and trophies $$$$ extra labor on race weekends Lindo was out there until 9:30 saturday night on machinery $4.75/gallon then there are hours of after the race posting the points and etc water trucks water pumps all use gasoline...$$$ I do realize we do not have a perfect track and it is a beginner level facility not an expert facility but you just can not keep dumping more and more into the system to attract 12 more riders we are considering a evening race next spring after I evaluate a light system investment and the added labor to man the event it may not be practical to do so at this point if it does not produce a profit I can not happen I am paying $368,000 for past sales tax on all of the rides you have done at DP in the past plus penalty and intrest so figure how many times you have been to DP over the past 6 yrs convert that to $$$ and add 60% to that figure that is what it cost me to let you come ride one more time last week after the state told me not to charge sales tax............. now they just walk in and take it blip blip gone mike dp thanks again for the comments if you stay over night yes it helps greatly and we do appreciate it |

Mike, I am so sorry about everything you have been through with this tax situation and hope it gets settled...As for the night races next spring I think that
would be awesome for like maybe the last 2 since those are the hottest months of that season! Also if we could we would love to volunteer to help in any way at
the races just to see this last for the kids

I don't think you have to dump a lot of money in the track to attract more riders. I have been coming to DP for several months and never knew you held races there. A few flyers can go a LONG way. Send them to the bike shops, have them posted at the office door, on the porta pots…ect. You may have had flyers but I never saw them, but I can promise you if I had….I would have had my fat but back on the treadmill trying to get back into shape! lol I can't wait until the next series! And night races are great, I vote for a night Summer series!!! |
