I love my 2 stroke | ||

Four strokes are fun to ride. They allow for an easier time in regards to shifting and you do not have to stay on the pipe like with a two stroke. They are powerful with tons of torq. You can pretty much get the bike in 3rd and leave it there. VERY FORGIVING. EVERYONE is riding one! All the pro MX guys are now on them (last year there were a couple that stuck to the 2 stroke for a few races then switched). However, in reading my new Dirt Rider magazine... They said secretly many top riders "long for the return of the 2 stroke."
The four stroke that you ride is very reliable and the MX four stroke are getting better. However, they ARE high RPM motors. When they go boom (and they do go) count on spending 2000 bucks to rebuild. I have a riding buddy that has been riding his '06 CRF250R for about 2 years with out any real trouble and he rides often. NOW on to me... I love my two stroke. The power comes on exactly when and how I like it QUICK and STRONG. I love the challenge of shifting and riding in the correct gear (4 strokes... you can leave it in 3rd most of the time). Also, I just bought a top end rebuild kit (OEM Parts) for $50 and will have the job done myself in about 2 1/2 hours. Finally, since so many people are going with the 4 stroke there are some great deals (New and used) on 2 strokes. You could get 2 for the price of one. Then you will have an MX bike AND a trail bike. Probably if you are pretty new to riding get a 4 stroke. If you do then you will not have to miss the 2 strokes when they are gone Talk to people who have riden both and people who have had to fix both. I am pretty one sided on this issue as I grew up riding the two strokes and I love them. |

2's rule | ||

2 strokers all the way!
Remember a two stroke 250 is much closer to a four stroke 400 in power and horses. |

I recently bought an 06 Crf250 and it is the best Mx bike I have ever owned.I have a 2003 cr250 2 stroke and since I have gotten the crf,it just sits.I agonized about a 250 or 450,I am glad I got the 250.I have yet to find a need for the extra hp a 450 has,the 250crf is a fast bike.I am a 40 year old lifelong mxer and I can ride the crf faster,longer and most importantly, with more confidence than a 2-stroke machine.You have to ride it somewhat like a 125,but it is very forgiving and MUCH faster than a 125.You can rev it or lug it,it is just plain fun to ride.

I JUST GOT A BRAND NEW CR250R FOUR STROKE | ||
|
My 03 cr250r two stoke was stolen, and that was a really fast bike. Do you think I am going to like the change? I fouled plugs with the 2 stroke, and ran it a
gear higher than I should because hitting the jumps in the power band would put the front wheel way up in the air. Is there a big difference in power?
