I am new to all this, what is the best way to clean a carb??
Do I pull it off and soak it in a solution of carb cleaner that is at the auto parts stores ?? |

Just buy the carb cleaner at the auto parts store, take the carb off the bike, open it up, spray everything, all the little openings included, clean out any crud, if you have an air compressor, blow out all jets, make sure the float isn't full of gas and slides up and down freely, put it all back together, put it back on the bike. When you start the bike, let it warm up at least 3-5 mins. and set the idle, if you messed with the air/fuel mixture screw, then screw it in all the way and back it out 2 full turns, while the bike is running, adjust the mix screw gently until it is smooth and doesn't hesitate when gassed. It's really not that bad, I would install a new fuel filter also. Good luck and welcome to the world of wrenching. By the way, Tony (DP mechanic) does very good work at fair prices...
