I took my brothers yz 85 to Cycle World for a top end rebuild. Two weeks after i dropped it off they called to tell me they finally found the problem, which i already knew, and they also told me it would cost 1500 dollars to rebuild the top end. Needless to say, I drove to teh shop to pick up the bike. When i got there they nearly refused to serve me because i told them i was not goign to allow them to fix the bike. The manager told me he was goign to bring hte bike around real quick adn ten minutes later i see him repositioning his Harley and talking to some of teh gatherers outside. He finally returned with a box of parts, which had a large gap in the bottom so the parts fell out, and told me that i could pay the tear down fee ($150) at teh front desk. I took the bike down to the DP staff that same day and had them take a look. The mehanic told me on teh spot the parts i needed adn a rough approxamation of the final cost( $200). Then Mike and i started looking at the parts list given to me by Cycle World. We soon saw that they basically wanted to rebuild the entire motor. They had charged for crankshaft and the complete bottom end kit along with the top end. the labor was well over ten hours and they charged abotu a hundred dollars to change the tranny fluid adn clean the air filter liek we had asked. I came back to pick our bike up from DP adn the final charge was $170, nearly a tenth of what Cycle World asked, the mechanics even took the time to explain to my brother what had happened and hoe to properly break in teh parts and care for them. Within a week i had taken down my personal Yamaha which also had a few minor problems to show my appreciation to the staff. Thanks again DP staff for saving me hundreds of dollars and frustration.
